At his core, Dr. Pettis Perry is a social scientist. He is an organizational effectiveness thought leader, consultant, educator, and author with nearly six decades of field experience. He lives with Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) from a lifetime of abuse and harm in the workplace and elsewhere—experiences that have driven him to develop strategies for creating a meaningful life for himself and his family while confronting massive trauma. His personal antidote to trauma aftereffects is to use his pain to fuel achieving his aspirations.
As a result of his lifepath, he now devotes his professional practice to trauma prevention, post-trauma growth, and wellness by helping individuals create more meaningful lives and guiding organizational leaders to build trauma-informed communities that are kinder, gentler, healthier, and more productive spaces.
As a thought leader, Dr. Perry promotes positive social change through what he calls transformative servant leadership. He believes business degree programs should include multiple leadership courses so managers as leaders can create healthier work environments. In 2021, he conceived a new leadership model—The 7 Strategies for Organizational Effectiveness®—based on 25 years of post-doctoral research on attrition in organizations. That research laid the foundation for his book Trauma & Toxicity: Tools for Transformative Leaders, Workplace Warriors, and Community Builders to Foster Resilience and Meaningful Lives, during which he also developed two theoretical models: The Field Theory of Goal Performance and The Force Field Theory of the Evolution of the Self.
In early 2025, he partnered with Anacortes, WA–based singer-songwriter Marlo Lynn through LynnDennis, LLC to promote transformative learning, post-trauma growth and wellness, and programs supporting the creation of meaningful lives.
